Company Description

The Renewable Energy Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, from April through October 31st. Weather permitting, free guided tours depart daily from the Renewable Energy Center at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
no reservation is needed for these tours. The daily tours last 45-60 minutes and are suitable for most age groups (hard hats may not fit very young children, and participants need to be able to walk 1/3 of a mile). Please wear closed-toed shoes. We are 30 minutes east of Ellensburg, WA on the Vantage Highway (not I-90). Please plan accordingly.
We will cover the technology and capabilities of the wind farm, while viewing a solar array, wind turbine generator, a wind turbine blade along the trail, and the inside of the base of a wind turbine.
To schedule a separate, group tour of Wild Horse, please call 509-964-7815. The wind farm is an excellent location for school field trips, business meetings, car club gatherings, and more. The conference room is available by advanced reservation. It features a meeting room accommodating 48 people and a full kitchen.
Set on a ridge at 3,500 ft. ridge, the visitor center provides views of the wind turbines, solar array, and the Cascade mountain range. On a clear day you can see the vast Columbia Basin, Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, and Mount Hood. The Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility has 149 turbines spanning 10,800 acres, and it is the 2nd of 3 wind facilities owned by Puget Sound Energy. The facility can generate up to 273 megawatts of electricity, and on average, powers 60,000-70,000 homes.
